Steampunk Meme, why not!
Your result for The Steampunk Style Test...

The Gadgeteer

You are the Gadgeteer, the embodiment of steampunk technology. Ironically, many of the things that most define your style are probably too large to easily carry about, but given the opportunity you would prefer to be seen surrounded by boiler engines, gear-driven calculators, and incredible automata. Of all the steampunk fashion styles, you place the greatest emphasis on technological accessories, and you are the most likely to create elaborate gadgets that are as much a part of your outfit as your clothes. You probably have goggles, but unlike most people you consider them to be for more than decoration. Whereas most people might look odd carrying a satchel of tools around, for you they may well be essential. Above all, you remind everyone that what sets the genre apart from Victoriana is simply the level of technology.

Celtic Animal Series
Now taking orders in advance for this Mythical line, we've started the run with 8 designs; seal, dog, falcon, wolf, dragonfly, wild boar, salmon and snake. They have a matted/roughed up silver background, making them look more stone-like. The animals are raised from the rough base and are gold. The designs are based on a modern-day blend of Pictish and late Celtic styling.

I'll try to cover a animal or two per week with a small blurb about this animal, and what it can mean to you or a friend.

Today, we're taking a closer look at the Dog;

Dogs are loyal companions and strong guardians. They’ve helped mankind throughout history during hunts and battles, as well as protecting family and livestock. The infamous Celtic hero Cú Chulainn, meaning ‘Hound of Cullan’, received his name after he made the mistake of killing the smith’s guard dog. To make up for Cullan’s loss, he takes on the role of the dog and becomes the guardian himself. A demi-god, willing to take on the role of a dog certainly shows how important these animals are to the Celts.

Dogs are the ‘tamer’ side of the same energy we associate with wolves. While they can be just as fierce and loyal, they’re willing to obey in order to help out.

The Dog will help you defend your ideals, but at the same time keep harmony among those around you.

The silver and gold accented pendant is available for orders in advance from the PeterStone company;

And we also have apparel items featuring this design!

Hint: I can think of at least 8+ cars with this motor.

Ever had one of those moments when you're driving, and everything about your car just comes together?

The engine revs up smoothly, the gear changes without complaint and you storm down the road, turning liquid dead dinosaurs into fumes and endorphins, both hands (when not changing gears) on the steering wheel, no traffic in front of you or around the corner, and the wind in your face?

I had one of those moments earlier tonight. Tell me about yours!

I feel like I jsut sold part of my soul...
I just watched my car drive away...

I'm gonna miss her. LOTS.

Now when I have dreams of driving her I won;t be able to wake up and see her when I go outside. (I have dreams involving all of my vehicles, past and present Maybe future, too, but I just can't see myself owning a forest green Jaguar XJ with green tinted glass and a white interior!

This past past weekend..
I found myself at a two day autox event in the Potomac Highlands of Maryland. The first day was very frustrating, all I was hearing was off course after off course. They used too many gates with not enough pointers. It really messed with my depth perception and looking ahead became useless when its hard to tell whose mated with who. Anyway, with all the DNF's on the board for that day, I was happy to have a few clean on course runs. Sunday was a much better laid out course. I experimented with launching for once and managed to have some decent runs. The back section was an all out third gear stretch. I am deffinately getting rusty, I've done probably less then half the events I did last summer since I have been spending so much time visiting the BF in Ohio and vice versa. Still loving the sound of the SPT Cat Back and Cobb Down Pipe. Its nice and quiet at low rpm's but has that wonderful growl when I am on it.

Weekend Aug 17th-18th Cranphin Visit
Before the weekend approached we had a pair of visitors in the wonderful Dragonboy / Cranphin variety. Fun was has as usual but Dragonboy is as picky about games as Remco is about food. Hehe *Had to be said*

After some tooling around and being geeky on Saturday we headed up to Remco's place, brining our puppy Dainty in tow. We were greeted by many smiling faces and re-introductions were had. We began by watching spaceballs and having some Shorma all while I was drinking this Horrible after dinner wine. Somehow I was tricked into drinking almost the entire bottle ;\ So shitty it didn't even get me buzzed. NOT EVEN A BUZZ! More and more people began to arrive and around 9 when Vos and Crew arrived, I began to have a panic attack. I quickly jumped out the front door and wandered off for an hour. Walked down to the post and back while listening to music. Eventually my nerves calmed some and I came back... sadly noone knew I was gone. Then again it was a party ;P

I was still a bit wound up so I sat in the corner a bit and JohnnyK came over and sorted me out some. It was nice talking to him again and eventually I was normal and re-joined the party. Soon after people began to eat Space Cake... I am not a weed person so I passed. Eventually people got stoned and I had some fun Teasing Kenai about his giggling. *How many fingers AM I holding up Kenai?*

Eventually it got late and people started to head home. It was a great party and thank you for Inviting us Remco. Dainty had a great time as did I.

P.S. Kenai owes me some damn hot Sauce!!! I am stuck using Tabasco.. ick!

P.P.S. I didn't name names cause there was far too many to list. I will try to remember all. Hello's go out to Remco, Kenai, WhiteShadowFox, Cyan, Ra-Fluffsky, Angle, Darkwolf, Pony, Suprnova, Wouter, Dragonboy, Cranphin, JohnnyK, Nico, David, Nekotrisha, Vos, Kiroja, and 2 others names I did not get that came with Vos/Kiroja.

Weekend Aug 10th-11th Plus 4th Edition DnD
I went down to Nijmegen to visit my good friend Helios. Get a little bit of DnD time and see some old familiar faces. So Mark has his Friend Husky from Germany visiting and he is passing right by there on his way home Saturday so I hitch a ride and arrive just after noon. I get there and have a nice Lunch *Dinner? I can never remember with those crazy German style eating schedules* before we get out the Wii and start playing. We have a pretty quiet time watching a Horrible Bernie Mac Movie "Guess who's coming to Dinner" *NOTE: We had no idea he has died that day when we watched it* before catching some Zzzzz's.

I should mention before sleep we did build my 4th Edition Wizard for DnD. I chose a Eldyrin race named Fancypants *yeap he was obsessed with fancy clothing*. I did a pretty good job building for a first time 4th edition character, and though this was going to be fun... Little did I know about wizards MISSING with magic missile now ;\

Now Helios is my bud and I appreciate all the hospitality but... I was told there was an air mattress. He bring out one of those Egg Carton Foam things... at that point I knew I would get no sleep. *Ok I got 2 hours*. Next time I will bring my Auto Inflating Air Palace! Ohhh it gives me the shivers thinking about it ;)

We all wake up and have some Pastries and I grab a shower. People begin to Arrive and we start playing some 4th Edition DnD. Now I have been a long time player, and considered very adept. I have played Up from the Original Version. I have seen the good and bad in every edition... and let me say 4th Edition, has WAY TOO MANY BUGS. Stick with 3.5e for now. Combat is VERY unbalanced and Character design is over simplified. Some things feel great and the way Spells are handled now is in my option EXCELLENT! The issue is Skills and a skill path are VERY lacking. There is just not enough feats or skills. You also loose skill points so building is less a gradual process which makes you feel more powerful off the bat, but you quickly lag behind every NPC and Monster out there. What worse is combat is full of misses. Spells MISS far tooo often, Big powerful blows often land thru the air, and monsters make you panic.. even the little kobolds ;\

We finally got to a good stopping place after 7 hours and it was time for all to go home. Hugs were had and I started my venture home. Helios and me chatted for a good 30 mins at the train station and shared our views on 4th edition. We both agree that combat NEEDS tweaking, but otherwise it could become a good successor to 3.5. Right now though don't switch over, wait a little bit.

Thank you Helios for having me over and for all the hospitality, your mom for the lovely meals, your dad for the humor, your grandma for putting up with another annoying house guest plus letting me use her shower, and your brother for DMing the game. I had a wonderful time and hope we can do it again someday soon *we don't see each other enough*.

A new Meme, real post later today!
There are many people out there who want to be better friends with you, or feel like they've lost touch with you.

If this person is such a friend, let them know.

If you respond, you have to post this so you too can find out who wants to be better friends with you.

Comments are *NOT* screened (seriously why would any screen this meme?)

Oscar updates
Well, I'm not going to post pictures of the blisters for obvious reasons, but the reaction of our Dutch guest ([info]rob_d) spoke volumes. He was shocked.

Despite it looking as gruesome as ever, we do think he is healing. The old skin is falling off, and taking the hairs with it, but there seems to be healthy new skin underneath it. Whether the hairs will ever grow back is unknown... but honestly we don't care. He could have a bald butt and tail and it wouldn't make me love him less. As long as he gets his mobility back.

It's going to be a long way... but we're well on the road here. As long as we can keep infection off our tracks we should have a good shot at making our goals.

And because vitamin paste makes the world a better place;

Clever math!
Anyone who tells you that they are going to sell their old, paid-off but fuel-slurping vehicle and buy a new vehicle in the name of saving money is a fool. In my case the vehicle I was to purchase would have to generate three THOUSAND dollars in fuel savings to become a worthwhile investment. See the quick numbers below, and find out exactly how little a new vehicle would have to cost in order to generate financial gain. (Oh, and don't forget depreciation which I actually left out of this little thing. New vehicle deprecation usually works out to a four or more thousand dollar loss in the first year alone.)

GMC Canyon
Car payment was $280/mo $3360/yr
Insurance payment was $160/mo $1920/yr
Gas was $37.50/week $1950/yr

Chevy Monte Carlo SS
Car payment is $0
Insurance payment is $56/mo $672/yr
Gas is $55/wk $2860/yr

GMC Canyon $7230/yr
Monte Carlo SS $3532/yr
That works out to an annual difference of $3698 in operating expenses. Add an additional $1,000/yr in breakdown expenses due to age of the SS and I'm still ahead of the game $2698 annually.

These are my actual insurance, monthly payment, and fuel cost numbers for these two vehicles. It is $2700/yr CHEAPER to run my old car than it was to run my new truck. Albeit currently it is eating a good sized sum of money to get the car into working, highway suitable order it will pay off in the long run. Maybe I'll write "Still Cheaper Than A Car Payment" in the back window. :D

Ford Taurus SHO Third Gen... so tempting!
I seen a rather nice Ford Taurus SHO Thrid Generation today while helping my brother get a sense of shopping, and boy, it was a very tempting buy! However, I am worried that it may not be a grand idea to get rid of my currently working '95 passat for that V8 beast with over a hundred thousand miles. Just speaking hypothetically, would there be any gremlins waiting in that car at all?
